“Fall Reminds Us of God’s Faithfulness

Here in Jesup, fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year. The air cools, the leaves change colors, and farmers gather their crops. Fall teaches us something important about God. Life has seasons, and each one has a purpose. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
When we see the harvest, we remember that what we plant will one day grow and be gathered. Galatians 6:9 tells us not to give up, because in the right season we will reap a harvest if we keep doing good. One verse that encourages us in every season is Lamentations 3:22–23: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.” The word “mercies” comes from the Hebrew word rachamim, which means deep compassion like the love a parent has for their child. Just as each morning brings a new sunrise, God gives us fresh mercy and strength every day.
The falling leaves remind us of something too. Just as trees let go of their leaves, we can let go of our worries and trust God. The tree looks bare for a season, but in time new life will come again. God often uses our “empty” seasons to prepare us for new growth.
This fall, as you walk around Wayne County and see the colors of autumn, remember these simple truths: God is faithful in every season, Change is not the end but it’s part of God’s plan for new beginnings, and His mercies, His rachamim, are new every single day. The seasons will keep changing, but Hebrews 13:8 reminds us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Seasons shift, but God’s love never falls.
